Jewelry Care Guide
Your jewelry is made to last — but like all treasured objects, it needs gentle care to preserve its beauty over time. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your pieces radiant for years to come.
General Care
- Keep it dry. Moisture is one of the main causes of tarnish and wear. Avoid wearing your jewelry while swimming, bathing, or doing household chores.
- Avoid contact with chemicals. Perfume, lotion, hairspray, cleaning products, and chlorine can all dull or damage your jewelry. Apply them before putting on your pieces.
- Store with care. When not in use, store your jewelry in a dry, closed box or a soft pouch. Keeping pieces separate will prevent scratches and tangling.
Silver & Gold Vermeil
- Solid silver may naturally darken over time due to oxidation. This is normal and can be easily cleaned (see our cleaning guide for tips).
- Gold vermeil (thick gold over sterling silver) requires more delicate handling — avoid polishing cloths or harsh cleaners that could strip the layer.
Stones & Enamel
- Natural stones can vary in hardness and sensitivity. Avoid knocks and sudden temperature changes.
- Vitreous enamel is glass fused to metal — durable, but best protected from hard impact.
Wearing Tips
- Remove jewelry before sleeping, showering, or exercising.
- Put jewelry on last when dressing — after lotions and sprays.
- Wipe gently with a soft cloth after each wear to remove skin oils and residue.
With mindful care, your jewelry can age beautifully and be worn across seasons and generations. For deeper cleaning tips, see our post: How to Polish Your Tarnished Jewelry.
